As to begin we just had a conference on the topic yesterday..Everyone shared their ideas..Its very happy to include that seniors ( JainBasil , .. ) guiding us and juniors supporting us for the project..

FROM THE LAND OF SPICY HILLS !!

Waynad can be described as the land of spicy hills and paddy fields.. We had a chance visit the beautiful scenes of the land some days before.. We extended our trip for sight-seeing also as it were meant for Abin's Italy uncle's reception..

Alan , Ninto and Salim reached my home and we four begin the journey.. Midhun , Muneer and Shafi joined us from there.. Reception events were grand.. After fooding we moved to kuruva dweep..

There at kuruva dweep we found the real beauty of waynad.. All of us enjoyed well.. That night we stayed there at his old home..

Next day we went to Banasura Sagar Dam first.. This famous dam made of soil looks nice.. We went on exploring many things there..

Then we moved to meenmutty waterfalls that i had went there before with my native friends.. There were only 'water' no 'falls'..

Edakkal caves were the next place to welcome us.. We went on trekking huge hills finally reached there.. Saw the ancient society scripts on the caves..

We moved to bathery and saw Abin's home there.. nice and very clean home..

Then on the way to Muthanga we happend to visit the Sulthan's battery..
That 'aayudhapura' is a well known historical place and we just made to saw inside as the place were about to close..

We went Muthanga then.. Saw wild animals there.. Returned to Bathery and had a huge dinner..

We returned from there after dinner and reach home at midnight.. Entire trip was fun and exciting.. Thanks to Abin Stephen and his relatives as they welcomed and treated very well..

അസോസിയേഷന്‍ കപ്പില്‍ സെമിയില്‍ പുറത്തായതിന്റെ ആലസ്യതിലിരിക്കെ , നിന്റോന്റെ നിര്‍ബന്ധത്തിനു വഴങ്ങി ഞങ്ങള്‍ നാല് പേര്‍ രണ്ടു ബൈക്കിലായി ചെറായി ബീച്ചില്‍ പോയി..

പോകുന്ന വഴിക്ക് ഞങ്ങള്‍ ശ്രീലക്ഷ്മി വi എസ്സിന്റെ വീട്ടില്‍ കയറി. എല്ലാര്‍ക്കുംകും നന്നേ വിശന്നത് കൊണ്ട് നേരത്തെ വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞാണ് ഞങ്ങള്‍ ചെന്നത്..നല്ല ഭംഗിയുള്ള വീട്.. പുറത്തെ പൂന്തോട്ടവും ചാമ്പക്ക മരവും നന്നായിട്ടുണ്ട്.. വി എസ്സിന്റെ അമ്മയെയും അച്ഛനെയും പരിചയപെട്ടു .. അങ്ങനെ അവിടെ നിന്നും ഞങ്ങള്‍ ചെരായിലേക് തിരിച്ചു ..

സ്നേഹത്തീരതെകാളും വലിയ ബീച്.. നല്ല ജനക്കൂട്ടമുണ്ട്ദ്.. ഞാനും സലിമും ശ്യാമും നിന്റൊനും കടലില്‍ ഇറങ്ങി.. കുറച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ മഴ പെയ്യാന്‍ തുടങ്ങി.. മഴതുള്ളികല്ക് നല്ല തണുപ്പും കടലിലെ വെള്ളത്തിന്‌ ചൂടും.. കടല്‍ വെള്ളത്തിന്റെ പ്രതലത്തില്‍ നിന്ന് മഴ തെരിക്കുനത് കാണാന്‍ നല്ല ഭംഗിയുണ്ട്..

നല്ല ദൃശ്യങ്ങള്‍ പകര്‍ത്താന്‍ ഞങ്ങളുടെ കൈയില്‍ ക്യാമറ ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു എന്ന് പറയേണ്ട കാര്യമില്ലല്ലോ..
കൊടകരയില്‍ നിന്ന് ബീഫും കൊള്ളിയും കഴിച്ചു ഞങ്ങള്‍ തെറിച്ചു..

ഈ വര്ഷം കുറെ ചെറിയ യാത്രകള്‍ നമ്മള്‍ പോയിട്ടുണ്ട് .. അതിന്റെ കൂട്ടത്തിലേക്ക് ഒന്ന് കൂടി..

This post refers to the national conference on emerging trends in computing organised by department of computerscience and engineering of Govt.. engg. college trichur sponsered by Directorate of technical education...

Event commences on 24th morning with an splashing inaugral ceremony..
Conference was inaugrated by the principal of gec Dr. Vijaykumar..

That day we had an keynote speech , and next day comprises of paper presentations from various college students and also by various delegates..
On 26th with the closing ceremony event was about to finish..

Threeday full of great speeches,ideas come to end..

Me was under Saileshettan.. food cum volunteer committee..

Saileshettan , Ashithettan , Rogenchettan guided us well..

After s3 university exams we all went to snehatheeram..

ANOTHER DAY OF JOY AND SUCCESS !!

After alot of postponements we come to the execution of event on feb 3rd...
Our respected Head Of Dept inaugrated the function in all its pride..

The starting session were handled by Namratha ( An introduction to FreeSoftware )..
She pointed out some points on the history and evolution of freesoftware..
Next sessions were handled by Akhil ( Desktop Environments ) , Vinaya Nair ( Open Office tools ) and Rahul C P ( Gimp ) .. These sessions were quite introductory one and got great attention from the audience..

Freesoftware ethics were taken by Devidas bai of s8 cse...
He had a very nice informatory session and the audience really enjoyed it...

Afternoon sessions were handled by JithuSunny (Stellarium) , Sruthidevi( Scilab ) , SalimAli ( Blender 3D ) , AlanAbraham ( Python based Computing ) , VarunMohan ( FedoraElectronics ) ..
All of the above sessions were quite entertaining and informatory especially
AlanAbraham did a fantasting job...

FREEZONE BAC ON FEB 3RD !!

We decided to conduct FREEZONE on February 3rd..
Forenoon session includes 'An introduction to FreeSoftware ' and afternoon session includes 'Free and Open Source Software @ Engg. Education'..

Freezone conducted by The Department of Computer Science and Engineering GEC TCR with fsugtsr(freesoftware users group trissur) in GEC Seminarhall..

This post refers to what we had done in past two months.. Includes things we had done after crescendo.. !!

the NIT trip (25 10 09)

As my guys were interested in watching THATVA me welcomed them to kozhikode.. Those who were from trissur reached saturday(24th) itself..Me took girls from station to Abina's home..
We had food at thattukada near medical college and stayed that night at Varun's home..

Tomorrow we went to NIT and had a talk on 'USER TO HACKER' by Maxin who is working at SONY..
Pramode sir told me earlier that Maxin was his student and he is from GEC TCR..
His talk emphaised on patches and it was interesting..

INFRONT OF NIT CAMPUS

After that we went to kozhikkode beach.. Me dropped them went home..

They had some joyous moment out there and we all went to trissur by intercity..

AATHIRAPALLY tour(12 11 09)

As FREEZONE got postponed and our series exams were over we were very much depressed..
Syam and Ninto were pretty interested about an trip..
We went Aathirapally through Chalakudy and Ninto had the role of guiding us..

This year seemed to be a dry year for GEC.. Only TECHNOFEST and EXTRICO happened to host here..
Unlike TECHNOFEST me were in Volunteer commitee under Jijesh bai..
Evenif we were just a volunteer we will be able to learn something if we are involved into..

XMAS CELEBRATIONS 09 (18 12 09)

Final years told that there will be no insignia this year.. So there will be a combined yearwise xmas celebration... Saileshettan getus the job of making star and crab..

It is very proud that we (not myself) completed both in just two days..Celebrations were exciting and we all had fun... Then we guys went to trissur zoo..

WEDDING--SHAMEER'S BROTHER (20 12 09)

As our guys were interested in exploring kozhikkode some of them reached here saturday itself..
We had a great lunch at my home and went out for sight seeing.. We went to Beypore port.Beach and had food at Paragon..Tomorrow we went Shameer's home and then to Varun's..Again we turn around to Beach and guys floated there in sea..
We had a secondshow at Davison for Vettaikaran and me dropped them in railway station..

FREEZONE

Even before CRESCENDO i had in my minds an event about freesoftware should also be given to juniors as the senoirs did...
Pramode sir and Jainbasil introduced about the event and it should be done in association with fsugtsr.. Me thought with the help of IC students it won't be much risk..
We agreed and thought of it..
Me had discussions with Jain and finalised the topics and rough program schedule..
Namratha get me the letter , me and cp went to Shibili madam..
She gave us complete support and with Ihsan bai me went to HOD..
The event is scheduled on 11th and me supplied the programmelist to HOD..
He forwarded the letter to Principal..
Principal strikes again !! He told us that to rethink about the date as he won't allow a working day for the event..
Me and Ihsanka told that this is a part of our syllabus..
Finally he agreed.. Granted permission to conduct..
We thought to collect Rs20 from each student..
Shibili madam told us we had association fund.. But Ihsaanka told that it can only be taken for 'Insignia'..
Me booked mic..
Shibili told me that she have toget the slide for presentations..
Ninto collected paise from students..
We mesaged everyone in class to setup names for the event..Prashanth suggested FREEZONE and it was finalised through voting..Me called everyone who are for presentations and there will be a mock on 9th.Event will be on 11th.. Me called others and boosted up..
Ashwana called.. told that series xams extended upto 11th..Me called Jain and we finalised to postpone the event to 18th..Called Namratha to write second letter..Pramode sir told that to have a trial at IC befrore the event..Me arranged everyone there and had mock there..Me arranged projecter and its screen..Sarath and guys went to each department each class and told about the event..
Principal's call..

Principal called us to his room and told that the college will be suspended to three days.. And he told we are not permitted the conduct the event at campus..

Me informed everyone and told that we had got one more chance to conduct the event much more better....

WE WILL DO IT !!

There were alot of postponements.. Many of us asked why this bad luck?..
Me told everyone we are getting more and more chances to do it better....
With God's grace and support we will conduct the event..

The making of 'CreScEndo'

This entry is in connection with our 2009 freshers day celebration. This includes a very detailed description of things we did for the event..
Setting up the name :
The name crescendo - suggested by Saipriya - means gradual increase in loudness was selected by the class. 3 or 4 names were selected from the best 10. We put the 'Titles' in the class for a poll. From the voting the name was selected.
Design of banner & poster:
Salim ali , Rahul C.P & Jainbasil (s5 compsci) were incharge of banner design. Salim and C.P thinks to bold letters 'C' 'S' 'E' of CreScEndo earlier. Jainbasil designed the banner with vibrant colours of great appeal. Hereby conveying a special thanks to him and the chandravilla guyz on the behalf of class. Design of posters were setup by CP and Salim. The increase in size of font of poster resembles the meaning of the name.
On 1st oct (thu) I announced the 7th of October (wed) as the Freshers day 2009 in class & requested for a fund to be collected. We three(Salim,CP & me) were only able to complete the works of banner and poster & a rough program list by 4th of october (sun). Let us c what happened on monday!!!

Monstrous Monday:
On monday called Namratha & Vishwajeeth to setup 3 letters and Ashwana to collect cash. Cash collection was smooth and complete.
Letter fowarded by Group tutor Madame Helen and HOD Mr.Manoj kumar didnt get approval of Principal Mr.Vijay Kumar. Sarath & Vishwajith were the ones who dealt with him. The Conversation with the principal is as follows:
Principal: "Freshers day.....Eastern amphi cannot be alloted. Look for some space in ur Dept. It cannot be conducted on working days. The programme should be terminated with in 4 pm. Since you have not provided me with the program list i cant allow u to conduct this program and I am afraid that some sort of ragging will take place. Maybe all the dept freshers day can be conducted together. Theres a meeting with all the hods at 3pm."
We dont have enough classrooms in our dept for our 4 batches..So we don't have any other option..
We already arranged the appropriate fund and announced date in the class and we didnt get the permission to conduct the event. As HOD forwarded the letter we (CP , Sarath , Shyam & me) ran over him and gave the program list. HOD went to the principal and had a little chit-chat abt the program and he returned to us in 2 minutes in flying colours. That 2 minutes made me really excited. Principal granted us the permission. Really proud to say that he stood up with us. Then Sarath & me went to Wimbis, Milma & Chithira sounds and booked food and mic.
CP took care of the banner. He went to the town at afternoon & stood there till night.When he returned he had banner with him.Called some of my classmates (hostelers). With the combined effort of all we setup the banner. That midnight me and Salim had a talk over the programmes. Salim started to collect songs for dance mania and videos for nostalgia. Salim, Abin, Varun, Nidhin, Ashiq and me started writing the script of movie spoof. That day we had discussion upto 2 am.
Threatening Tuesday:
Tuesday started with finalisation of programmelist.. then we went to juniors class with groups..Akhil and Athira setup writing 'crescendo' on thier board.
We divided their class into three groups told them we had an evening session for discussion.
That afternoon Sharath and me went to trissurmarket and bought items for decoration.
At that time Cp,Abin pasted our posters infront of atm,cooperative store,canteen and department.
Then we suspended juniors class ,seperated them into three classes with their respective groups.
Groupleaders(Ashwana,Muneer,Abin,Namratha,Alan,Abina) did thier role..
Then Varun,Prashanth and me went to eastern amphi for decoration..
We arranged almost all boys for decorations.
We(sharath and me) went town again for buying the 'pot'..
CP went to bhavana and bought decorative items.That day we planned a nightout.Decorations were going superb and went upto midnight.
We planned about tommorrow.. Salim preparing as an anchor. Things settled and me relaxed.
When the time is 12 30 Irshaadka called said that tommorrow is SFI's educationstrike due to a ragging case..
Entire crew stunned !!!
Me and Irshaadka went to gallery. Sidharthettan said that he will arrange all the setup for postponement.Irshaadka said he will take care of letters.
Me discussed with boys and they said thursday was ok as because if college is in an inactive mode our 'chenda' will be a waste..
Everone ok....
OK....!!!!!!!!
Passed the message and send boys back to hostel.
Went devikripa , told them"We have one day more.. Lets utilize it...."
inquietant wednesday:sday
We are not aware of how others would react about postponement.But everyone cooperated..
Thought about permissions..letters..Called Viswajith & Namratha for setting up the letters..
Letters were written by Namratha and both of them went for permissions.Tutor didn't forward the letter..I talked to her but she won't compromise.. She told that had to dicuss with HOD..
Viswajith and Namratha discussed with HOD and he forwarded it to principal..
In the meantime Irshaadka told that if this time also principal fires up he will contact union..
But principal granted permission.They went for contacting teachers and it was all fine..
Really proud of both especially viswajeeth that he dealt all the permissions..without that we won't think about the event..

Decorations were mindblowing..Setted the boys and girls for tommorrow.. Some girls scooted to theatre..Talked to surgent about timings..Invited chairman Shibin Ashok, secretary Sidharthettan ,association secretary Ihsaanka and other executive members..
We decorated upto 2'o clock..Decorationz were well set.Varun's art of drawing ,Prashanth's idea of designing,Salim's & cp's tips combined together in amphi..

The most awaited day is coming...

CRESCENDO LAUNCH

Sarath informed that he took 'chenda'..
Jithu,Niphun,Shafi & Vyshakh went to MH to practice it...practice started on 8 30...
Called groupleaders giving neccessary details about the timings,gave the programmelist and grouplist, told them to set the group...

Then set some girls to varun for further decorations..
Those girls who reached earlier in the amphi has started cleaning. Then we went for 'uri kettal'. 'Uri' was properly setup by ninto, muneer, vineesh, sudeesh & sandeep. Then we went to mechanical workshop and told juniors to reach department at 11 am. Group discussions strarts from 11 am to 11:15 am. After that we dispersed the meeting and asked them to join at 11:45 am. Group members did a deciding role in the success of events.
Group members(Ajilta,Anu,Arun,Ashiq,Deepesh,Deepti,Jyothisha,Lishana,Nadeera,Parvathi,Neethu Isaac, Saranya,Sherin,Sreelakshmi VS, Sruthi KD,Ummu hanan,Vinaya,Sanitha TS).
Sarath and boys made the arrangement for 'Chenda' and Ninto and gang made the slogan. Entire march from department to the amphi was exploding. Full credit goes to Sarath who made it happen. The freshers representative Anoop did the traditional 'Uri adi'.
Programme started at sharp 1 pm. The list of programmes were updated just before the previous one. The control over cyber section was posted to Nithin and Vishwajeet. Sounds department was handed over to Tisil, Santana, Sumesh & Vineeth. The most challenging problem was time lag. I was only able to confirm the next event to anchors just after a programme concludes. Salim ali and Sneha mariya did fantastic role in handling the stage. Special thanks to judges who properly handled their job.(Ashwathy p.k, Athira, Sreelakshmi m.s, Ranjith, Anoop). Performers from s3 also did a great deal of entertainement.

There are a lot of volunteers who were not able to see many events. But they turned to be key to our success. The volunteers who made this programme a great sucess are listed below:
Rahul CP, Saheed , Kavya, Sanitha P, Sanitha sivanath, Shimil, Saritha, Shyamili, Neethu V, Neethu Krishna, Anagha, Ashwathy L.

Union chairman Shibin Ashok had a few words about the culure and history of GEC. Our seniors joined the party. Devidas, Deepak, Rojan, Irshad, Ninto, Vipin, Thoufeeq, Alex and Ajay joined the party. Our beloved HOD Manoj Kumar , Our tutor madame Helen and department staffs were the special guests of the programme. Hearty thanks to all. The mic sound problem and the principals interruption affected the smooth flow of the programme. But nothing can alter the spirit of CreScEndo.

It is the great commitment of SALIM ALI & RAHUL CP that pave the way for entire programme. Its simple to plan but not that simple to execute. But due to gods grace we did it.. WE MADE IT HAPPEN.

The unity and commitment of 72 minds was definitely the key of success. The memories of crescendo have the power to retain the spirit of a compsci as well as a GECian.
Say aloud with proud "WE ARE WHAT YOU DREAM TO BE".
